2015: rides of interest

Yoga again. This time felt less transformative, but I was also arriving after a week of vacation from hunching over computers (and substantially less hunching over a cutting board than usual at Thanksgiving).

Last year I was cagey about goals, because I didn't want to post lofty ones and fail. This year, I'm comfortable posting them. Not to keep myself honest so much as to get excited about them.
And no, PBP isn't on here. I don't think the crowds sound appealing, if I'm going to shlep over to ride in France it's going to be wine-country touring style, and dphilli1 deserves a better 5th wedding anniversary than either being home alone or crewing for exhausted cranky randonneuring Sarah in France. :) If the series goes well, in 2015, a domestic or Canadian 1200K in 2016 seems like a good goal.

  • 2015/03/22: Westfield Spring 200K. Unfinished business from last year's DNF.
  • 2015/03/28: Boston 107K season opener. Time goal: do 5:15 again like last year. That rocked. If I can do better, even better, but that was good enough.
  • 2015/04/11: Boston 200K. Time goal: sub-11 (assuming same course). All that requires is not blowing up on the hills this time.
  • 2015/04/25: Boston 300K. Time goal: sub-18 (reasonable assuming same or similar course, and no flat tire shenanigans)
  • 2015/05/09: Long Island 200K. Looks really pretty, seems unlikely I'll actually be able to fit it into my schedule.
  • 2015/05/16: Fleche/Dart? Maybe. Will depend on the CRW spring century schedule and other people :) I could do both the Dart and the Spring Century, assuming they're Sat/Sun as usual.
  • 2015/05/17?: CRW spring century with friends?
  • 2015/05/30: Boston 400K. Is probably going to be a tough hillfest, although beautiful, given the route designer. No time goal.
  • 2015/06/06: 600K. Both the NJ (super-flat) and Central NY (less flat but <13K) 600 are this weekend. Am planning to do one of them, but I don't know which. NJ, probably, because I've done one ride with the NJ group already and know a few people. But the Central NY rides look really, really pretty. I'd like to do the Lap Of Lake Ontario 1000K some time, but I'm not sure it'll happen this year and it's likely to be a weekend I'm out of town for work.
  • 2015/06/20: Boston 600k, maybe. Will depend on how I've recovered from the other 600k and if I need a few weeks without a big ride.
  • 2015/07/25: Night Ride 200K -- I'm running this one. So I'll ride it a week before or so. People should come do my ride! I promise nothing worse than rolling hills.
  • 2015/07/30: VT 600k/1000k. If I've successfully completed a series by then, I'd like to try the 1000k. If not, or if it was a struggle to finish a flat 600k, the 600k. I'd like to get up and ride the Kanc sometime before hitting it on this ride, but we'll see. Maybe going into it without preconceptions would be good.

After that -- Westfield doesn't have all their info up -- they have a September 200K and a 200K option for the Great River Ride, which could be fun. I'm pretty sure I'll won't want to do anything longer than a 200K after the Big Goal Rides. And I'm not sure if I'll go up for the Fall Classic again -- it was a lot of fun, though. Maybe I can convince dphilli1 to do the populaire with me, since he'll be training for touring by that point. And hopefully there will be some more 100k-ish rides with NER.

And then touring in October, woo.

Somewhere in there it'd be nice to get the canoe out for a multi-day trip. Or even just get the damn thing down for day trips, period. Alas, time.
